New development at Mangere Family Doctors, 215 Massey rd, Mangere East
Mangere Family Doctors kicked off their building programme today to double the size of GP Clinic consulting room space and to allow addition of new services to the community of Mangere. The ceremony to bless the project and to turn earth was lead by Tainiu Eru Thompson, Tongan Rev Moses Vakasiuola, with speeches to mark the occasion from MP Su’a William Sio, TaPasefika PHO Trustees Nuku Rapana and Anna Bailey.
This is one of the good news stories for the primary health strategy and the people of Mangere; as the addition of an X-ray Unit will allow achievement of Accident and Medical Centre accreditation – establishing the first and only Accident and Medical Centre in Mangere.

Mangere Family Doctors have been serving the Mangere community for over twelve years: 7 days a week, 364 days of the year - providing comprehensive acute and chronic care services through their multidisciplinary team of 11 doctors and nurses.

Also a leading practice in chronic care management, with integrated care provided by psychologists, psychiatrist, a diabetes and chronic care nurse team; new programmes are now promoting a community focus on wellness through well men’s, well women’s clinics, nutrition education and through working collaboratively with other providers in the Mangere community.
Services and hours will expand with the additional space to include:
- Free ACC X-ray
- Free ACC Physio
- Free ACC orthopaedic consultations and fracture clinic follow up
- Education workshops for the community
- Space for recruitment and training for doctors and nurses

Community Partnership Fair February 22nd
TaPasefika PHO was one of the sponsoring organisations at the recent Community Partenrship Fair held at the Ellerslie Convention Centre in Greenlane in February.
CVD Risk Assessment Screening for men over 35 years and women over 25 years, was promoted to the community of Pacific Leaders that attended.
CVD or Cardiovascular Disease (Heart Disease) is the single biggest cause of preventable death amongst Pacific peoples within New Zealand.
At the Fair TaPasefika participants had their weight and height measurements done to calculate their BMI (Body mass Index). Feedback was given on their BMI readings.

The Fair was jointly sponsored by Health Star Pacific, AuckPac PHO, Langimalie, Pasifika Healthcare and Tamaki PHO. Healthline and Quit Smoking also attended.
TaPasefika attended with its providers Health Pacifica Doctors (now known as Bader Drive Healthcare), South Seas Healthcare and Mangere Family Doctors.
